Community Lunch
The goal of IGI's Community Lunch Program is to continue accessibility to fresh and healthy meals during school vacations. While the target population is school-aged children, the lunches are available to anyone in our community who can benefit from a fresh, ready-made free lunch.
Lunches consist of healthy sandwiches, prepared meals, and more. They are always served with fresh fruit and vegetables, incorporating locally grown ingredients as possible. All Island families are welcome to receive free lunch, no documentation or proof of income is required.
The Community Lunch program ran for 8 weeks in 2023, providing approximately 14,200 lunches to 14 different recipient organizations, including summer school programs, town libraries, and Martha's Vineyard Community Services children's programs. We are incredibly grateful to our team of 40+ volunteers and the support of the West Chop Community Foundation, the Campbell Soup Foundation, the Couch Family Foundation, and Cape and Islands United Way for making this program possible.
