Community Supported Agriculture
What is it?
CSA members pay an up-front cost to a local farm in exchange for regular pick-ups of a diverse array of produce. Think of it as a produce subscription. We offer a summer CSA with weekly pickups from June to late October and a winter CSA with bi-weekly pickups from November through February. The food in our CSA comes from our fields, greenhouse, and pastured hens.
How does purchasing a share impact IGI?
Approximately half of the food we grow at the farm is donated to Islanders in need of food support through our Island Food Pantry and other food equity partners. The member fees from our CSA program help underwrite the cost of these donations and support our regenerative agricultural efforts at the farm.
We love having our CSA members visit the farm regularly, to get to know our farmers, to learn more about our work, and to connect with the land their food comes from.

CSA FAQ
What can I expect in my share?
During summer and early fall you can expect to receive beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, collards, eggplant, kale, lettuce, melons, onions, peppers, potatoes, strawberries, summer squash, tomatoes, and more! Our winter CSA includes more storage and root crops such as beets, cabbage, celeriac, carrots, garlic, kohlrabi, onions, potatoes, radishes. Plus greens from our greenhouse soil beds.
How big is the share?
The share should be enough to feed a family of four each week or two people who really love vegetables. If you think the share may be too large we suggest asking a friend, neighbor, or family member to split it with you! Just one person needs to sign up and you can split it however it works for you.
What if I am unable to make CSA pick-up?
We encourage you to send a friend, family member, or neighbor to pick up your share if you are unable to make it to pick up. All they need to do is tell us your name and we’ll walk them through the process. If you do not have someone to send in your place then reach out to our CSA manager as soon as you can. They will pack up your share for you to pick up on a different day.
Where do I park during pick up?
Park at the community garden lot during pick up. This is the first small lot you will see on your left. There is a person gate at the lot which you can use to walk toward the CSA pick up site. If the community garden lot is full there is a large circular visitor lot further down the driveway in front of our large greenhouse. Handicap parking spots are available within the farm gates, right next to our bathroom (the building with the pointy shingled roof).
If you are physically unable to walk from either parking lot or the handicap spaces, or the ground is icy during Winter CSA, you can pull right up to the CSA pick up site. However, we ask you not to park here long term so we can keep the area clear for tractors and other farm vehicles.
Are dogs allowed on the farm?
With the exception of service animals please plan on leaving your pets at home or in the car. While we love dogs, they are not allowed at the CSA pick up site or in the fields, including the you-pick area, as part of our food safety policy.
Can I bring friends and kids to the you-pick?
Of course! We just ask that kids be supervised while at the farm. Our farm staff is busy working during CSA pick up hours and tractors and other farm equipment moves around the area regularly.
What is you-pick?
We have a field designated just for CSA members to pick produce. We grow peas, beans, flowers, cherry tomatoes, and herbs in these fields. We’ll put up signs to indicate which crops are ready for picking. If there’s no sign, chances are the plants are not ready for picking or are done being picked for the season. The you-pick area is next to our community garden area, separated by a dirt road. Please do not pick from the community garden area, these are private gardens that our dedicated community growers spend a lot of time tending to grow their own food.
What if I am physically unable to pick from the you-pick?
Just let us know during sign up and we’ll make note! We’ll harvest items prior to pick up so they’re part of your share. This service is reserved for those who are physically unable to safely walk on uneven ground, bend over, be out in the sun, etc. Our farm staff often does not have the time to pick you-pick items for all of our CSA members.
